I don't believe in security by diversity. If there is one PDF reader that's better than Adobe's, then I will use that. Foxit Reader was close to it. The one part I never become acquainted with is the update dialog. Sometimes it pops up, but I couldn't figure out what I needed to update. Some lines were in italic, some lines were in red, but there was no help about it. It also offered optional pay-for components instead of security updates only. I forgot if I installed JBIG and Asian font plugins, so I didn't know if I had to update them.
Then I decided to reinstall Foxit, and remember what plugins I have. Uninstallation worked. I tried to install freshly downloaded version. It said that the installation was successful, but it wasn't. Tried again. Same. This is the end of the Foxit story.
Now I use
Sumatra PDF. I tried it earlier, but I considered it unprofessional after a couple of seconds use. Now I realized that it knows everything that I need. And what's the most important: you can change that ugly yellow color to any color you would like!
Update June 5th: Last week I've switched to Ubuntu on my office computer. This is the end of the Sumatra PDF story. Now I use Evince.
